Where we store data & outsourced processing

We store data securely within the EU with regular backups. User account data is stored on our WordPress system hosted at wedaevents.com, representing a separate SQL database used as an outsourced server for the mobile/PWA application. Transport is encrypted (HTTPS), access is least-privilege, and credentials are secured.

Lawful bases for processing (GDPR Art. 6)

  • Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) – to provide your account, authentication (JWT), features, profile, preferences.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) – security, analytics, fraud/spam prevention, crash reporting.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) – for marketing, notifications. You may withdraw consent anytime.
  • Legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)) – compliance with law or requests from authorities.

This privacy policy describes how WEDA Events collects, uses and discloses your personal information and data when you use our services through our websites (https://wedaevents.com) and/or mobile/PWA application (app.wedaevents.com).

What kind of data is collected?

WEDA Events collects the following categories of data and information:

  • Personal identification information (name, username, email address, password – hashed, phone number if provided)
  • Profile data (roles, favorites, checklists, saved preferences)
  • Profile picture or other images uploaded by the user
  • Geolocation data (manual city/country input or GPS if allowed)
  • Content you submit voluntarily (reviews, comments, uploaded media)
  • Device information (device model, OS version, language – anonymous)

How is the data collected?

You provide most of the data directly when:

  • You register an account or log in through our application (JWT authentication)
  • You update your profile or upload an avatar
  • You interact with features such as favorites, checklists, coupon redemptions, or event participation
  • You allow access to location services to see nearby events and venues

We also collect technical data automatically through analytics and monitoring tools:

  • Firebase (push notifications, crashlytics)
  • Google Analytics & Google Tag Manager
  • Facebook Pixel / App Events (for insights and retargeting)

How will we use your data?

WEDA Events collects your data so that we can:

  • Provide access to your account and secure login via JWT
  • Personalize your experience (favorites, checklists, saved preferences)
  • Display and manage your profile information
  • Show events and locations based on your selected city or geolocation
  • Send notifications (only if opted in by user)
  • Prevent fraud, spam, and abuse of our services
  • Improve performance via analytics & crash reporting

We may share your data with trusted partners only when strictly necessary:

  • Event organizers and venue partners (when you interact with their content or redeem coupons)
  • Third-party analytics/crash reporting providers (Firebase, Google Analytics, Facebook)

How is the data stored?

Your data is securely stored on servers located within the EU; backups are regularly taken by our hosting provider.

We retain your account data as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, your personal data will be permanently erased within 30 days, unless laws require longer retention (e.g. for accounting or legal claims).

Third-party data processors

We use the following third-party services to operate parts of our system securely:

  • Google Firebase (notifications, crashlytics)
  • Google Analytics (statistics and usage)
  • Facebook (App Events / Pixel for insights & ads)

Marketing

We may send marketing communications only if you explicitly opt in (e.g., newsletters, special offers). Partners may include:

  • Dance event organizers and festivals associated with WEDA Events
  • Venues, promoters, or brands collaborating with WEDA Events

You can withdraw consent at any time via the app settings or contacting us.
